Exploring the Tough Stuff
Things People Say The idea for this project came out of a conversation we had about the things we hear that show lack of awareness, bias and even privilege based on sex, race, sexual orientation and religion. In "Things People Say," we share things people say without realizing that they work against inclusion and understanding of diverse experiences. Even if the person saying it meant no harm, we need to see that this "small things" stem from greater issues like stereotypes, prejudice, and oppression, that we need to deal with. See the SexismSexism continues to be something that women deal with on a regular basis. Even as women have made strides the issues persist. We invite you to take a closer look at what sexism can look like in the midst of progress.

Talking about Race Talking about Race can make people uncomfortable and self-conscious. We need practice talking about what we see, hear, and know about race. We participated in several workshops to learn more about inclusion. In one workshop we discussed what we think is happening around us regarding race. The workshop gave us an opportunity to share our perspectives and experiences. Excerpts from this workshop are included below.
